YOUR Prayers are Powerful and Effectual!
September 2024
It is amazing to me how often we need to be reminded of the basic principles of prayer. I don’t know about you, but if I don’t review the Word of God over and over on a regular basis then what I have heard tends to slip away. This just happened as I read this month’s pamphlet, “Praying With Power.” Although I wrote this myself, as I read it, I was encouraged, and my faith reinforced in the power of prayer!
Satan comes to steal the Word out of our hearts and minds. Paul uses the analogy of looking into a mirror and forgetting what you looked like once you walk away. So, the key is:
Don’t walk away from the Word! Keep it before you day and night! It is always important to remind yourself of who you are and that YOUR prayers are powerful and effectual.
For me personally, when I am the busiest and the pressure is on, it seems my prayer life consists of “snatches of prayer” here and there. The good news is that
I am praying! I do know that God is hearing me, but my faith is energized when I hear or read what the Word says about prayer. Something inside of me settles… like a spike driven in the ground when I read:
“If you maintain a living communion with me and my words are at home in you, I command you to ask, at once, something for yourself, whatever your heart desires, and it will become yours.” John 15:7 Wuest Translation
From the inside of me, I declare, “Your words are at home in me! I am in living communion with you! And here is what I am asking……………………...” (Make that declaration out loud right now for yourself and ask for what you desire. He is waiting for you to fill in the blanks.)
Notice that this is a commandment from Jesus to YOU. Are you willing to obey His command and ASK—AT ONCE—WHATEVER YOUR HEART DESIRES???
I hope this letter and the pamphlet will inspire you and help you today. The staff and I pray for you every weekday and especially in Chapel Services on Monday. You are our partners and covenant friends, and we stand with you for the blessings of Abraham to come upon you and overtake you as you walk in His Word.
In Christ,
Annette Capps
